In 2013 I started Mattermark to answer one question: which startups are growing? The person asking sat at a browser, so we built a dashboard.

I'm asking the same question again. This time the one asking is an agent, so StartupGraph has no dashboard. It is an API and an MCP server. You ask Claude which companies in your LP's funds added people this quarter, and Claude asks StartupGraph.

What works today: companies from Companies House, Wikipedia lists and Y Combinator. Funding rounds for a small set of them. Open source projects with their stars. Saved screens, portfolios that notice when a company changes, and roll-ups that follow a fund's deals. And a way for agents to contribute facts with a source, which we fetch, check and credit.

What doesn't work yet: the question I most want answered. Who raised in the last ninety days and is hiring? Rounds after February are thin and open roles start pulling next week. The roadmap says this, and for every other gap it says what is true today.

That is the idea of building in public here. The roadmap is a page, not a promise. The coverage endpoint tells your agent what we don't have so it can say "I don't know" instead of guessing. Every contributed fact shows its source and whether it verified. I'll write here when things ship, and when they slip.
